Making a Will? Remember to “Pass on Something Wonderful”

This week is “Remember a Charity in your Will” week. We are proud to support a range of charitable causes throughout the year and encourage our clients to consider using their wills as a way to support the charities which are important to them.

Can anyone leave a gift to a charity in their will?

Yes! After taking care of family and friends, many people choose to leave a gift to charity they are passionate about in their will.

Can I leave just a small gift in my will?

Of course, every gift counts! Even a small amount can have a huge impact and make a real difference. In fact, gifts in wills are a vital source of funding which enable charities to continue their important work.

Could leaving a gift to a charity benefit me?

As well as the satisfaction of supporting the great work of your chosen charity, leaving a gift to a charity can bring tax benefits. If you leave at least 10% of your net estate to charity, then the inheritance tax due from your estate is discounted from 40% to 36%.

You may also like to take advantage of Solomons Solicitors’ Charity Will Scheme. When leaving a legacy to your chosen charity (registered with the Charity commission), you will receive a 10% discount on our standard fixed will fee and we will donate a further 10% of our fee to The Lewis Manning Hospice, our chosen Charity of the Year.
